Julia Mandeville is a 20 something year old Barbadian who holds a BSc (Hons) in Biology with Microbiology from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados. She has been a secondary school science and health educator for the last seven years in Barbados. She applied to the University of Manchester in 2014 to pursue a Masters of Public Health as she has a strong desire to work in the health service sector in the Caribbean region to assist in providing the support needed to strengthen the region’s health systems. In 2016, after being diagnosed with severe endometriosis in 2014, she came together with a group of intelligent and like minded ladies and founded a local non-governmental organization with the aim of addressing the lack of public awareness of the chronic conditions of Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in Barbados. She currently sits on its Board as the President. She is happily married to Brian with 1 cat and 2 dogs.
